AND IF ART WAS FIRST AND FOREMOST A STORY OF EXCHANGES...
Seeing, imagining, taking a stand, contemplating or even experimenting; everyone constructs, chooses or analyses a work of art in a particular way. Being free to interpret and feel a creation is undoubtedly the heart of the mission and the state of mind of the actions set up by the public service of La cuisine.
Visits, artistic practice and cooking workshops, meetings with creators, artist's talks, lectures, readings and film screenings are some of the events and activities offered throughout the year in connection with the art centre's artistic programme.
Weaving a link, finding the right dialogue without substituting for the work in order to encourage an encounter between a viewer and a creation is the objective that the mediation team of La cuisine has set itself.
If the essential thing is the encounter and the exchange, the diversity of the modes of reception is important so that everyone feels concerned by today's creation. Offering a sensitive, often offbeat view of our current world, the artists reveal a history and sometimes reinvent our relationship with the world, thus inviting us to adopt new points of view.
The singular reading of the works sometimes requires keys to understanding. The public service provides everyone with the appropriate tools to build a sensitive approach to the works and the issues surrounding art and design.
The kitchen is also a member of LMAC, the Laboratoire des Médiations en Art Contemporain - Midi-Pyrénées. Participation in this network allows us to remain alert in our proposals for the public and to develop the practices of mediators.
