The experimental kitchen of the art and design center is defined as a creative space and a new mediation tool for the public. The kitchen workshops offered allow for a different approach to the current exhibitions, they question the approach and the artistic process engaged by the work of the artists and designers in residence in the area. This space is also a place of experimentation that invites the residents to extend their artistic research into the kitchen and to work with local products and know-how.
The Kitchen is thus defined as a platform for exchange and dialogue, for transmission and creation, between artists or designers, food artisans and residents. The sensory language of gourmet food invites us to take the time to approach an exhibition by not only soliciting our sight but by engaging all of our senses through the manipulation of textures, flavors and smells.
Cooking workshops, as a new form of mediation, allow people to experiment with the notion of taste, in the gustatory sense, but also have the particularity of inserting into the heart of the kitchen the universal and timeless conviviality of sharing a meal, from its preparation to its tasting.
One of the vital forms of social bonding is sharing a table or a meal. Using this characteristic within the art and design center therefore invites the public to invest it as a place of life, within which current and local issues are questioned.
